Inertia – being resistant to change; sluggishness; tending to stay at rest or in uniform motion unless acted upon by an external force
Over the last few years, we decided we want to change our lifestyle. We want to live lean and experience the world in new ways – and avoid the rut that is the modern American life. You only get one life and you can’t make the most of it if you’re standing still.
Though we’ve got a strong sense of the life we want, getting there is a work in progress. We invite you to join us. We will use this site to chronicle our adventures, locally and globally. Adventures in travel, work, parenting, schooling, and life. Watch how people with different change thresholds figure this out together, as a family. We hope you find it entertaining, interesting, and maybe even informative. If nothing else, you can learn from our mistakes as we’ve learned from others’. We’re excited – it should be a fun ride.
Who We Are
I am Tiffany, and I cannot sit still – not when there are so many places to go, so many sights to see, and so many experiences to be had. Hence this blog. I’m a dreamer and a planner – whether it’s a day trip or something bigger, like…I don’t know…maybe a year-long trek around the USA, or full time world travel (you get the idea). I am always looking for what’s next.
I am Ben, Tiffany’s husband. While I am willing to experience new things, I can also appreciate the routine, predictable and secure. As long as I have researched all possible outcomes, planned for the unexpected and assured the safety of my family, I am ready for exciting adventure. Boy, it looks even sillier in writing.
We have been married for 15 years, and we have two great sons – “E” (12) and “A” (11) and a four legged son named Jack the Boxer (3). After spending most of our lives in Northern California, in 2006 we moved to a town southeast of Seattle, Washington. It’s a little, but growing, suburban town, with “great” public schools and a small community feel. The landscape is also beautiful here; we’re surrounded by trees, mountains and easy access to water (though it is usually falling from the sky). Though we’ve loved our life here over the last few years, our relationship started with adventure and it’s time to get back to it.
