Cascade Meadows RV Park was home for a week while we visited central Oregon.  It was fine – not great, not bad.  It is located near the Newberry Caldera, with its lakes and hiking trails, which we loved.  We hiked on a large obsidian flow that occurred just 1400 years ago. We also explored Lava Butte and its wonderful views.  We capped off our volcanic exploration with a trip to Crater Lake National Park, one of our favorites. There is no color blue like the water in Crater Lake.  Having our fill of volcanoes, we wrapped up the week with a visit to the High Desert Museum, a great place to learn about the animals, habitat, development and future of the high desert region of the country,  Though these activities cut into the boys’ formal studies a bit, I think they might have learned a lot anyway,
